With a strict health guideline in place and vaccine at hand, the government is likely to reopen the educational institutions soon, ending a months-long closure forced by the virus.
Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed the educational institutions across the country for taking preparations including ensuring hygiene rules of students, teachers and staff by 4 February for reopening schools.
The DSHE came up with the instructions on Friday (22 January).
It directed for ensuring security in accordance with pre-announced guidelines. So that the educational institutions can be opened instantly after getting the instructions of the higher authorities.
Educational institutions have been closed since March 16 last year due to coronavirus. According to the latest announcement, there is a holiday announcement till January 30.
On 16 March, the Ministry of Education issued a press release regarding the government’s decision to close all educational institutions and coaching centres from 18-31 March, considering students’ safety amid the global pandemic.
Later, the time was extended several times until 30 January.
The government also did not hold Primary School Certificate (PSC), Junior School Certificate (JSC), and their equivalent exams last year due to the pandemic.
The PSC and JSC examinees got auto-promotion, while HSC students will be assessed based on their JSC and SSC results. All students from the primary to secondary level will also be promoted automatically.
About 4.5 crore students from the pre-primary to higher education level are enrolled in nearly two lakh educational institutions across the country. ♦
