Shwapno stands beside distressed farmers in Northern Bangladesh

Retail brand shop Shwapno is regularly buying winter vegetables from the farmers in the Northern regions of Bangladesh as part of its initiative to help the distressed farmers.

Winter vegetables are being kept on lands and wasted in the districts of Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Rangpur, and Bogura. Eventually, the farmers are facing huge losses.

Under the supervision of the brand’s head of purchase Sajjadul Haque, and CSR and Growers welfare officer Shariful Islam, a dozen workers are regularly buying vegetables in these areas. Fresh vegetables bought from the regions are now available at Shwapno outlets.

Sajjadul said, ‘This time the winter has brought misery to the lives of the farmers of the Northern region. Being unable to sell their crops, they are suffering. Many people cannot afford to buy winter clothes for their families. So we regularly buy winter vegetables from the Northern zone.’
