The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday decided to bring all of its students under a health insurance scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic, UNB has reported.
The decision was taken in Dean’s Committee meeting, chaired by vice chancellor professor Md Akhtaruzzaman at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate building, a DU press release said.
A six-member committee, headed by DU treasurer professor Kamal Uddin, was formed to formulate policies to bring all students under health insurance.
The initiative will also contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and climb up in world rankings of universities, said the release.
The university has also decided to continue academic activities through online classes during the coronavirus outbreak. ♦
