According to DSE data, it is the highest cash dividend declared by any company listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange. An investor will get Tk125 against each share of Tk10.
The board of directors of the company in a virtual meeting on Thursday recommended the dividend for the year ending December 31, 2019, according to an official disclosure on Friday. As per the financial statement, the company has also reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk131.06 for the year ending December 31, 2019, as against Tk70.22 a year ago.
The Company’s profit increased due to strong sales of Dettol and Harpic, said an official of the company. Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) is a subsidiary of Reckitt Benckiser Group plc. The company is engaged in the consumer health and hygiene industry, offering products like lubricants, disinfectant cleaners, dishwashing detergents, and products like Dettol, Harpic, and more.
The Reckitt Benckiser closing share price at the DSE was Tk3139.00 on March 25. In 2018, the company declared a 700%cash dividend and a 790% cash dividend in 2017. Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh’s paid-up capital is Tk4.72 crore and authorized capital is Tk25 crore.
The sponsor-directors of Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh hold 82.96% stake in the company, while the government holds 3.77% and institutional investors, foreign investors, and the general public own 3.49%, 3.01%, and 6.77% shares of the company respectively.
The company was first listed on the Dhaka bourse in 1987. ♦
