The government yesterday appointed former industries secretary Md Abdul Halim as commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for four years.
The Ministry of Finance through a notice made the appointment on the same day. The appointment will come into effect from the date of his joining the office.
Earlier, the government on May 20 appointed professor Mizanur Rahman and professor Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed as commissioners of the securities regulator.
On May 17, the ministry appointed Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, professor at Dhaka University, as the chairman of the BSEC for the next four years.
The BSEC consists of a chairman and four commissioners. ♦
