Bangladesh on Sunday recorded its highest number of death as fast spreading coronavirus claimed 28 more lives in the last 24 hours raising death toll in the country to 480. Among the deceased, 23 were male and five were female. Of them, 20 were from Dhaka division, seven from Chittagong division and one was from Sylhet division.
During the period, Bangladesh witnessed another surge in Covid-19 patients with the detection of 1,532 new patients that took the number of confirmed cases in the country to 33,610.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at the daily online bulletin.
In the last 24 hours, 47 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 8,908 samples, she added. She also said that in the last 24 hours 415 coronavirus patients made full recovery in the country which upped the total number of recoveries to 6,901.
Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 20.53 percent and mortality rate 1.43 percent in Bangladesh, Dr Nasima said.
Previously, Bangladesh reported the record number of new deaths in a day on Friday which was 24. ♦
