Health Desk: A sudden and global epidemic has brought China Machinery Import & Export Co. (CMC), China General Technology Group (GT) and the people of Bangladesh closer together. On April 12, at a critical moment in Bangladesh’s fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, CMC quickly reached out and donated a large number of urgent anti-epidemic materials including 1,000,000 masks, 10,000 protective suits, 10,000 goggles, and 2,000 forehead thermometers to the Bangladesh government at 2.00 PM, CMC and Bangladesh Ministry of Health and Family Welfare held a handover ceremony of donated materials in the capital Dhaka.
Since the beginning of April, there has been a sudden and concentrated outbreak in Bangladesh. So far, 4186 people have been infected, 218 people have died, and thousands of others are in isolation. Faced with the dilemma of weak economy and lack of medical resources, especially the serious shortage of epidemic prevention materials, Bangladesh’s epidemic prevention situation is very grim.
As a Chinese central enterprise that has been deeply cultivating the Bangladeshi market for more than 30 years, CMC has undertaken major landmark projects for the “Belt and Road” initiative and the “China-Mongol-India-Myanmar” economic corridor. Therefore, being deeply related to Bangladeshi people suffering of COVID-19, CMC overcome difficulties such as medical material procurement, Logistics etc., sending a large number of valuable epidemic prevention materials to Bangladesh as fast as we could.
In recent years, CMC has vigorously practiced social responsibility of the state-owned enterprises in Bangladesh, and made a special donation of TK 2.5 crore (about two million RMB)in 2019 to build a teaching building for CHITHALIA HIGH SCHOOL, which has promoted the development of local education.

It’s believed that with the joint efforts of the people from both of the two countries, Bangladesh will be able to control the spreading of COVID-19 and restore prosperity and development as soon as possible. After the baptism of fighting against the epidemic, we have faith that friendship and connection between China and Bangladesh will be deeper and stronger!
Depot Director of Central Medical Store (CMSD) Brigadier General Dr. Mohammad Shahidullah said at the handover ceremony that Bangladesh people will never forget that it was the Chinese government and people as well as CMC who provides help when Bangladesh needs it most. These epidemic materials will alleviate the situation of the shortage of essential supplies both in Dhaka and other areas, earning valuable time for overall prevention and control of COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
