The Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen said that some ancillary work has already started in the production of Covid-19 resistant Chinese vaccine in the country.

He told reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday after receiving 245,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca from Japan.

“China will produce coronavirus vaccine in Bangladesh,” he said. In this regard, Bangladesh has started working with China on several issues.

“I had a meeting with the Chinese foreign minister on July 15 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The Chinese Foreign Minister said that if Bangladesh wants, I will send the announcement of the contract for vaccine production within 5 to 6 hours.”

The foreign minister said there was no need to inspect any infrastructure in advance for vaccine production. Given this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Health is continuing its activities to co-produce Chinese vaccines in Bangladesh.

Abdul Momen said there would be no more crisis with vaccines in the future. Vaccines have started coming to the country from various sources.

Japanese Ambassador to Dhaka Naoki Ito was present at the airport during the vaccination. He said another 2.7 million doses of the Oxford-Astrageneca vaccine would arrive in Bangladesh from his country in the next month.
