California Gov. Gavin Newsom has given his blessing for film and TV production to resume Friday, subject to approval from county public health authorities.
The state Department of Public Health also issued extensive guidelines for schools, day cares and casinos. But it put out just a single paragraph on music, film and TV production, essentially punting detailed rules to local health officials and labor-management negotiation.
Production has been halted since early March, and it remains uncertain when it will actually restart.
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers drafted a 22-page “white paper” on the topic, and submitted it on Monday for approval to officials in New York, California and Los Angeles County. ♦
