SC to hear emergency matters during general holiday

Arthoneeti Online Report: A Chamber Judge Court of Appellate Division and a single member bench of High Court Division will hold hearing on emergency matters amid the ongoing general holiday in the country. News BSS.

The apex court authorities also instructed every district and sessions judges in each districts and Metropolitan Sessions Judges in metropolitan areas to conduct court proceedings on two convenient days in a week to hear emergency bail pleas, separate notifications signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar said.

According to the notifications, Justice Md Nuruzzaman of Appellate Division will conduct the Chamber Judge Court while Justice Obaidul Hassan will hold hearing in single-judge court at the High Court Division.

The Supreme Court also extended the ongoing general holiday at all the courts across the country till May 5 to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Meanwhile the apex court authorities today also directed Supreme Court Special Committee for Judicial Reforms and UNDP-Bangladesh to provide technical support to conduct trial proceedings at High Court Division and all the lower courts in a smaller scale through audio/video conferencing.

They have also been directed to provide hands-on-training to judges, lawyers and count officials in this regard.
